Chulilla is otherwise known as the land of the natural
spa with a mountain altitude of over 400m above sea level. Its minerals in the water has properties known to heal and cure
various skin conditions and related problems. Its hard to imagine that this place was once covered in sea water but the evidence
is clear from fossils trapped in the volcanic rock, sand and seashells all around. Fountains and natural river´s and lakes
are abundant in Chulilla.
The history of Chulilla is relatively unknown because so
many records were destroyed in the Civil war but the evidence still remains - The Arabic castle which is perched high about
the village has been dated as far back as the Xll century, and later reformed in 1838. It provides one of the most stunning
photographic platforms with views of the Serrania mountains
Chulilla has around 40 separate climbing and walking areas
all ranging in different scales. There are three main walking routes, which are very popular among europeans who come to climb
as well as experience the traditional essence of Spain. Its worth buying a guide from the village and exploring for yourselves.
Many of the over hanging caves provide a fantastic rest and photographic spot. And if you´re lucky enough to find a natural
spring high up then you can have a refreshing drink too. These beauty spots are an ideal place to take a picnic and spot the
many birds of prey sailing high around the canyon walls.
Chulilla gets very lively in August when the spanish take their
holidays. The bars and restaurants cook traditional Tapas, lunches and evening meals.
